Vital Development works from the premise that we all need
nurturing touch in our lives. When you
stub your toe the instinctive response is to reach down and hold it until the
pain passes, if your child grazes their knee the first medicine is to “kiss it
better”. In fact, there have been a
number of studies conducted that suggest if babies have all the basic needs of
life (shelter, heat, food, water) but are not held and cuddled they fail to
develop normally. As adults we may lack touch in our lives. This can lead to a
sense of detachment from our body and becoming "out of touch" with
life.
I will be giving a talk at the Steyning Holistic Fair discussing the evidence that suggests gentle,
kind touch produces a chemical effect on the brain decreasing anxiety and
creating mood enhancement and as a group will investigate our own personal and cultural
blocks to that prevent us from easily and comfortably receiving touch.
Do join me for that and come along to experience the whole day for just £3. Many of our wonderful dancing community will be there too.
What can you expect to find at the fair:
The Healing Space
This is a quieter part of the fair where you can come and indulge yourself with a little pampering or try out an Holistic Therapy such as massage, reflexology, acupuncture, theta healing, crystal healing, Reiki or even low level laser treatment for pain relief.
The Main Hall
In the main hall you can come and explore the wonderful stalls offering, fair trade products, gifts, jewellery, artwork, original clothing, and crystals to name but a few. There is also an opportunity to come and have a tarot, angel, palm or colour reading with our gifted mediums and psychics.
Food & Drink
Home cooked vegetarian food is provided all day along with steaming cups of tea, coffee and yummy cakes.
Talks
Something that Ann-Marie is very passionate about is the opportunity to try other therapies and philosophies. There is a separate room where talks, meditation and workshops are held all day by inspirational and motivational speakers and therapists.
